Eva Jinek

Introducing journalism to conversational design

Eva is a well-known Dutch TV-host, rooted in the traditional media of today. Eva wanted to extend the contact with her viewers, while simultaneously reaching out to a younger, TV-abandoning audience. KRO-NCRV challenged us to strengthen Eva’s position by designing an ecosystem that creates synergy between TV and digital.

Getting personal with Eva

Getting personal with Eva

An Innovation Sprint with Eva Jinek herself and KRO-NCRV head of journalism Hans Laroes delivered us a promising prototype that we validated with the target audience: Eva Jinek as as news and content curator. Through our mobile platform, Eva shares stories about gender equality, cats and politics. And with her personal Facebook chatbot, you stay up-to-date with content she wouldn’t want you to miss.

Highlights versus theme-based browsing

Highlights versus theme-based browsing

The platform was designed to appeal to different types of news enthusiasts: quick browsers who scan Eva’s highlights at the top of the page, and deep divers who base their way through the content on their favorite subjects. Personal imagery, her first name as title and a modern use of colours really transform the platform into Eva’s living room.

Intimate connections in a rapid media landscape

Intimate connections in a rapid media landscape

With Eva’s platform and chatbot we explored the possibilities of personalizing a news outlet. In this era of fake news and mass media skepticism, it can be hard to trust information sources. But our platform enables KRO-NCRV to establish a trustworthy, perhaps even educative connection between Eva and her viewers. With surprising perspectives on news that challenge you to think again.
